Homework:
Homework is weekly. It will be given on Monday and due on that Friday. Homework is an opportunity for your child to read and share what is going on in the classroom. Here is the typical type of homework you will see:
READING- Passages that will be read nightly with different questions each night focusing on a reading skill.
MATH- Multiplication fact practice, occasional review sheet/study guide.
Spelling - A list will come home on Friday. How you decide as a family is up to you. Spelling homework does not get turned in.
Behavior:
We utilize a clip system for behavior. Below you will find a description for each level. Your child's behavior will be noted on their agenda sheet nightly.
PURPLE- The top level. The student made excellent choices throughout the day. This level is difficult to achieve. When a student reaches the purple level, they will get a small treat and cheer from the class.
GREEN - Everyone starts the day on green every day. Most days the children will be on green the entire day. Please note that being on green is not a negative thing.
BLUE - This level is reached when a child makes a bad choice. I will give him/her a warning first and then if the student continues to make poor choices, he/she will move clip to this level. This is a warning only.
ORANGE - If bad choices continue to be made , the child's clips gets moved down to orange and will have a consequence. This can mean time out at recess, loss of fun activity, or changing seats, etc.
RED - If a child continues to make bad choices, he/she will move clip to red. This means I will be calling home or sending a note home with the child to let you know they reached this level. If something serious happens he/she will be referred to the office.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Classes begin at 8:00 A.M. It is very important that your child is on time each day. If your child plans on eating breakfast here at school, they need to go straight to cafeteria upon arrival.
